Before the Fire at the North Rim

We are absolutely devastated. We just spent a miraculous week at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, camping on the edge of Transept Canyon and hiking every trail. It was absolutely gorgeous.

We left July 5, 2025. One week later, a devastating fire swept through, burning down the historic lodge and over 50 buildings, including the gas station that we walked past every day for a week as we went out to hike.

Our hearts go out to all of the rangers and staff who have so much love for this special place. We hope that they are all safe and that all the animals have escaped.

We will treasure our last trip to the North Rim and hold all the beauty close until we are able to return.
